Simplifying Small Business Social Media For Beginners

Hi my name is Venkat R Perunkanchi.   I am a professional blogger for the past three years.  A couple of months ago one of my friends who has a business of computer peripherals asked me to help him marketing his business through social media.  Being a shrewd businessman he got this idea when he found that  most the big companies place their Facebook page URLs in their advertisements rather than their company website addresses.

Though I was already using Facebook, Twitter, Orkut, Myspace and a few other social media platforms to promote my blogs, I was not an expert in social media.  So I started my online research about using social media to market small businesses.   I found out that there is a tremendous potential for small businesses to grow using social media.  Internet is changing very fast and social media started to explode with millions of people joining Facebook and Twitter every month.

When I was researching about social media which I continue to do, like everyone who search for information in internet I got overwhelmed with information and ideas.  I just wanted to have a warm shower but I found myself standing under a waterfall.  Have you ever stood under a waterfall?  No not the big ones which can kill you but the small ones   where you are allowed with some railings for safety.  Have you?  …….  I tried it once..... first it pounds on your head and then  removes your underwear.

After few weeks of researching and lot of material, I went to my cousin to explain.  Boy it was difficult.   He was a simple small business owner and wants to the simple ways of using social media to promote his business.   Social media (especially Facebook) can help you to connect with your customers and build relationships.  It make help in the growth of your business by making the ever effective “word of mouth recommendation” easy and automatic.

I started this blog with the help of my wife  Hemalatha (which means gold vine in Sanskrit) to simplify small business social media for beginners.   Every aspect and tools of social media will be covered in this blog.  If there is anything simple and useful already available in the web like the video above, I will provide you the links.  I want to make your journey easy and simple… because I know as a businessperson time is what you lack.
